“Kokdu: Season of Deity” recently premiered with famous stars Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang. In the fantasy series, the pair portrays longtime lovers, who were tragically separated by curses and time, reuniting in the present day. Kim Jung Hyun is cursed god Kokdu while Im Soo Hyang is an ER doctor named Han Gye Jeol, who is also under an ancient curse. The amazing cast

“Kokdu: Season of Deity” boasts an incredibly talented team of stars that are dearly beloved. The main cast members Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang rose to fame through a series of K-dramas. They are probably best-known as Goo Seung Jun in “Crash Landing on You” and Kang Mi Rae in “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty,” respectively. This time around, Kim Jung Hyun takes on a multi-role while Im Soo Hyang portrays a dual role. Kim Jung Hyun expertly plays cursed underworld god Kokdu, a young surgeon named Do Jin Woo, and a historical man named Oh Hyeon. Im Soo Hyang takes on characters Han Gye Jeol and Seol Hee. Han Gye Jeol is an ER doctor who graduated from an average medical school and has mysterious abilities, and Seol Hee is a princess who is loved by Oh Hyeon. Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang are both amazing in their various roles!

There are also the supporting characters played by Cha Chung Hwa, An Woo Yeon, and Dasom, who are also well-known stars you may recognize. Cha Chung Hwa plays Jo Nam Sook in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” and she plays the dual role of Gaksin and Seo Bok Gyeong. Gaksin is an emotionally intelligent god of rumor, and Seo Bok Gyeong is a social media influencer and nurse in the present day who assists Kokdu. An Woo Yeon previously greeted viewers as Park Dae Beom in “Young Lady and Gentleman,” and in this drama, he plays Han Gye Jeol’s younger brother Han Cheol, who is a detective. Former SISTAR member Dasom played Joo Ah Rin in “Was It Love,” and this time around she plays Tae Jeong Won, a genius who tops her class throughout medical school. She’s also Do Jin Woo’s ex-girlfriend. You can watch all of these actors shine on screen. They are simply the best of the best!

A unique story

Fantasy and romance is always a soul-stirring combination, and there’s plenty of supernatural in this drama. Kokdu is an underworld god, and the cursed deity is tasked with entering the mortal realm every 99 years to punish humans he believes are pathetic. When his current trip has him possessing the body of a young surgeon named Do Jin Woo, he meets ER doctor Han Gye Jeol, who looks identical to his first love. His duties include doing good for others in Do Jin Woo’s body, and him being under Han Gye Jeol’s spell threatens to destroy his eternal purpose for evil and possibly reform him. Han Gye Jeol’s spell is the mystical ability to make Kokdu’s new body move as she wants, and it thwarts his devious plan for punishing humans for their delicate nature and vulnerability. He doesn’t have complete control over Do Jin Woo’s body in her presence.

The main theme of “Kokdu: Season of Deity” is all about Kokdu’s journey from human, god, and understanding humans all over again. Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang join forces to bring viewers a world of infinite imagination, and they do a great job with their out of this world chemistry. You can’t miss this story that expertly combines fantasy, gods, romance, and humanity all in one K-drama!

A spellbinding fantasy genre

Fantasy is an amazing K-drama genre that doesn’t always get the love it deserves. In this genre, viewers are given the opportunity to imagine a world where the possibilities are endless. Love surpasses time and space because some couples have loved each other for centuries. In “Kokdu: Season of Deity,” Oh Hyeon loves Princess Seol Hee in historical Korea. After he is cursed to become an immortal god of the underworld and she is cursed to repeat her cruel death in her next lives, they reconnect in the present day as surgeon Do Jin Woo and Doctor Han Gye Jeol. It’s crazy to think about this kind of connection happening in real life, but love never ends in a fantasy K-drama!

Another cool aspect is how Kokdu has the ability to posses humans. Kokdu travels though time to possess the body of Do Jin Woo, and he arrives to accomplish his punishment mission, but he accidentally develops feelings for his first love from his past life. The ability to literally take over another person’s body is baffling, but the fantasy genre gives characters special powers that viewers can only dream about, which makes it fun to watch. You don’t want to miss the fantastic forces that are sure to amaze in this series.

Original soundtrack

Gifted actor Kim Jung Hyun shows off another talent by performing on the soundtrack for “Kokdu: Season of Deity.” The title of his song is “I Am,” and it’s a sentimental ballad designed to tug at your heart. Kim Jung Hyun’s voice is soothing and emotional as he expresses the feelings of his on-screen character Kokdu. The song discusses Kokdu’s consistent affection for his first love and inability to escape the memories of their past. There’s also singer Isaac Hong, who performs “Wind” for the soundtrack. His ballad has hints of traditional Korean instruments, and his vocals are undeniably smooth. “Wind” talks about the strong desire to be reunited with an estranged lover.

The K-drama is just beginning to unfold, but the soundtrack is already breathtaking. Kim Jung Hyun and singer Isaac Hong are the first two artists to showcase their abilities, and there is sure to be more. The magical music in this K-drama doesn’t disappoint!
