Choi Min Sik and Son Suk Ku have spilled the beans on Season 2 of “Big Bet”!
The first season showcased the story of Cha Mu Sik (Choi Min Sik), who, despite lacking any prior wealth, connections, or special privileges, rose to become the legendary king of the casino world in the Philippines. Following his involvement in a murder case, he was forced to make the ultimate gamble with his life on the line.
Choi Min Sik, who returned to the small screen after a 25-year hiatus, expressed his satisfaction with filming the series, stating, “Films must condense the story into two hours, but with a series, you can narrate the story at a more leisurely pace, providing in-depth character development. I am pleased that I can express all the stories I desired to tell.”
The actor also expressed his gratitude for the attention from global fans and foreign media, saying, “It is delightful to communicate with people worldwide via OTT platforms. It’s fantastic to see Korean dramas loved by viewers worldwide.”
Regarding the new season of “Big Bet,” Choi Min Sik highlighted the distinctive feature, stating, “Centering on Cha Mu Sik, the characters’ narratives and conflicts will become more intricate. Cha Mu Sik causes all the conflicts, confrontations, anger, and misery, and his true nature will be revealed in greater detail.”
Son Suk Ku also spoke about his attraction to his character, Oh Seung Hoon, the first “Korean Desk” sent to the Philippines. The actor stated, “This series is vastly different from my previous works. It was interesting to act in English instead of my native language (Korean) for a change.”
Season 2 of “Big Bet,” consisting of eight episodes, airs every Wednesday at 5 p.m. KST.
