Things weren’t always smooth for Jerry.
When his daughter was 10, she was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis, which is an inflammation of the filters in the kidneys (glomeruli).
He became the sole breadwinner after a car accident left his wife with mobility problems.
To take care of his daughter’s medical expenses, which cost HK$10K (about S$1.7K) each month, he once worked non-stop for 50 hours.
It took a toll on his health and he fell sick often.
He was hospitalised for three months for tuberculosis in 2016.
