On Sunday, the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles hosted the 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards, which recognized some of the best television and film performances of the year as voted on by the actors themselves.
The evening featured several notable moments, including the continued success of last year’s popular film “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” with stars Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ke Huy Quan all winning awards in their respective categories. Yeoh and Quan also made history with their wins.
The film also won the ceremony’s top award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.
In the television categories, “Abbott Elementary” won the award for outstanding ensemble cast in a comedy series, while “The White Lotus” won the ensemble cast award for a drama series.
Watching this year’s SAG Awards was a unique experience, as the ceremony was live-streamed on Netflix’s YouTube channel. This allowed for a more casual format with no commercials and some profanity. Starting in 2024, the show will be streamed globally on Netflix.
