Article: Lee Soo Man, “Today marks the end of an era for SM… I will be heading towards the future”

    1. [+169, -3] He’s a clear example of how difficult it is to just age gracefully…

    2. [+56, -2] Grandpa… you should’ve known when to let go..

    3. [+38, -1] What a psycho… If you think you’re the future, then our society is still stuck in the past. Your era has ended a long time ago and you still refuse to see it.. How much worse does it need to get for you to realize that?

    4. [+28, -1] You’ve made your money off of the labor of young kids all your life, learn to have some charity

    5. [+16, -0] This is just sad for you. Nothing but greed is written all over that face.

    6. [+15, -1] Sure, he’s the creator of idol groups that have now made what we call K-Pop. He’s the one who made their images and the management system that trains them. Anyone will admit that he’s had a huge part in creating K-Pop’s legacy. Unfortunately, the reality under all of the glitz and glam has shown us all the scandal and poor decisions… and I think it’s time that he admits that while he was once a trendsetter, he now fails to even keep up with the trends and that it’s time to just let go.

    7. [+10, -0] He’s maneuvered through life with the slickness of a fox ㅎㅎㅎ

    8. [+9, -1] Kwangya… The concept is just so outdated… The whole idea is just his own imagination. I hope he’s completely hands-off now and let’s the company do its own thing.

    9. [+8, -0] He sucked SM dry and now he’s trying to look like he’s having an honorable exit, talking about “moving towards the future,” what future?

    10. [+8, -0] He’s everything wrong with capitalism

    1. [+49, -16] His name will be remembered forever in Korean music history. It’s because of him that Korean music was able to grow as much it has worldwide. You’ve worked hard.

    2. [+42, -12] Ajusshi, the only direction you’re headed in is to the past

    3. [+26, -1] Whatever the case, the Korean idol industry is what really put Korea on the map worldwide, and Lee Soo Man was at the forefront of it. No need to hate him so much… I’m sure you or I wouldn’t have been able to give up a company like this so easily. Though yes, I do agree that he should’ve left the company to the experts 10 years ago and left on a more honorable term. But as you know, greed has no end, but that doesn’t mean his decades of hard work don’t deserve respect.

    4. [+27, -3] I actually think it’s unfortunate that we won’t get to see what a behemoth the combination of Hybe and SM could’ve become. SM’s artists would’ve benefitted greatly from Hybe’s rise. Kakao, unfortunately, just seems like a user, and I don’t think we’ll ever be free from the fear that they’re going to sell the skills of the trade off to Chinese investors.

    5. [+2, -2] I don’t care for all these long-winded comments. Whatever the case, at the end of the day, I respect Lee Soo Man for being the founder of Hallyu. If not for him, do you really think Hallyu would be moving the hearts of so many worldwide today? He says he’s headed toward the future and I support him in his endeavors.
