Taiwanese actor Benji Wang, 40, and his wife, Cindy are now parents.

Cindy gave birth to their daughter on May 14 after spending two hours submerged in water for a water birth. Benji later shared that he felt sorry that his wife had to go through such pain.

Yesterday (May 15), Benji posted a video on his Instagram, documenting the process of cooking for his wife a very special dish that’s made from her placenta, as well as the umbilical cord of their daughter.

“Giving birth is tough on the mum, heard that the best way to nourish one’s body is [by consuming] placenta,” Benji wrote.

The actor then brought everyone through the process of preparing the placenta for consumption, from washing it, to chopping and boiling it twice before assembling the final dish — stir-fried placenta with vegetables.

    Yum?

Benji and his wife then sat down in front of the camera to try the dish for the first time.

According to Benji, the dish tastes “just like liver”, or well, pig liver, to be exact.

He added that it’s similar to eating pig offal, with some parts that are similar to a pig’s intestines and stomach.

“My first time cooking human flesh, I keep wondering if it’s okay to cook? I’ve never cooked this before, and I was a little scared when I took my first bite. It kind of felt like a foreigner trying out pig’s blood cake for the first time,” he went on to share.

Cindy also shared her thoughts, saying: “I thought it’ll taste ‘fishy’, but this is pretty nice, and crispy!”
