Where Is Seo Soojin Now? Update on Former (G)I-DLE Member in 2023

After her withdrawal from (G)I-DLE in 2021, Seo Soojin’s status in 2023 drew attention on various social media platforms. What happened to the idol?

In 2015, Seo Soojin was initially introduced as N.Na, a prospective member of a girl group called VIVIDIVA under DN Entertainment. However, she left the pre-debut group even before its official debut.

After three years without news about the idol trainee, her much-awaited debut finally happen after being introduced as a member of Cube Entertainment’s new girl group (G)I-DLE in 2018.

When she entered the K-pop scene, Soojin is pretty much “underrated” not until her career suddenly skyrocketed as more fans noticed her visuals and rare sensual image on stage amid an influx of idols with girl crush and innocent concepts.

She became the stan attractor of the group, not only for her beauty and aura but due to her impeccable dancing skills as well. Her duality also earned more love, surprising K-pop fans with her rather shy and cute attitude off-stage. The turning point of her career was when the team joined Mnet’s “Queendom” which earned them even more fans. Soojin especially went viral with her “Senorita” dance stage.

Unfortunately, this popularity didn’t last long when Soojin was suddenly embroiled in a school violence issue in February 2021. According to the rumors, the former idol bullied her classmate when she was a middle school and it became bigger when actress Seo Shin Ae alluded to being the victim.

Despite accusations, Soojin and Cube Entertainment repeatedly denied it and claimed that she was actually the victim, however, due to the ruined public views about her, the idol has to temporarily suspend her activities with (G)I-DLE.

The investigation stated that it is hard to verify if the bullying rumor was true due to lack of evidence, but Seo eventually left the team in August 2021.

There are still a lot of people supporting and believing her, but she ultimately left the music scene when she terminated her contract with Cube in March 2022.

What Happened To Seo Soojin After Leaving (G)I-DLE? Idol’s Status in 2023

After leaving her team and agency, there are initially rumors that she was preparing to join her new agency, Big Planet Made in May 2022, but it turned out not to be true.

Since then, there are little to no updates about the idol aside from the occasional update from her friends and acquaintances stating that she’s doing really well.

However, in 2023, Soojin finally breathe and interacted with Neverlands (fandom) after an anecdote about her circulated on Twitter and TikTok.

On March 9, Soojin celebrated her 25th birthday and to commemorate the special day, K-nevies and fans from all around the world decided to hold a special event for the idol.

While the idol is yet to be seen, she made her fans know that she’s still with them and appreciate their love by reportedly sending handmade soaps for K-nevies who attended her event in a café. The soaps which came from a cryptic sender named “1849” was said to be sent through Soojin’s acquaintance.

The idol even left a note for her fans such as:

“Remember to eat on time.”

Meanwhile, 1849 is a number combination special to Soojin and her mom, that she even tattoed it on her hand.

Although Soojin is still not ready to show her face once again in public, Neverlands were just happy that they can create a space and connection special just between them and the idol.
