Why Certain K-Pop Idols Look Extra Good In Platinum Blonde — Understanding “Personal Colors”

What do these idols all have in common? They all look absolutely stunning in the platinum blonde. But why? Their personal colors are all “summer cool light.”

Personal color is a color analysis that determines the colors of clothing, makeup, accessories and hair that matches with a person’s natural skin complexion, eye color and natural hair color. Some colors tend to make the wrong areas of the face pop, whereas other colors make them look better—therefore, personal color analyzing is used by stylists to bring out the best from their star’s natural undertones.

There are a total of four seasons that the colors are categorized into: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Spring and fall are considered warm tones while summer and winter are cool tones.

Within each season, there are more categories each. For example, summer is divide into three types: mute, light, and pale.

As mentioned above, Taeyeon, Liz and Dahyun are all considered summer lights. This is the summer light color palette that looks best on them.

Summer lights look great in pastels. For hair colors, they tend to look best with colors that do not have a yellow or orange undertones: either their natural hair, ashy pastel colors such as mint, light pink, and lilac, and platinum blonde. Brown hair color with a red undertone is not the most ideal color for people who are summer lights.

This explains why Taeyeon, Liz, and Dahyun always look good in a light pastel color palette, and why their platinum blonde or light pastel hair color suits them so well.

It’s important to remember, however, that personal colors are not rules telling people what to wear or not to wear. It’s not always accurate either, as there are many celebrities who look great in a color that is not in their personal color palette. In the end, anyone is free to wear whatever they want, and feel great in whatever color they wish to wear—this is all just for fun!
