DOCSKIM is striking out on his own.
On the day of his birthday (27/02), the producer and multi-instrumentalist is taking a ‘Breather’ with his official solo debut as mikscod. Created simultaneously while working on BTS RM’s ‘Wild Flower,’ the new track “could be considered the sister song to the Indigo title track’ as said in a statement.
The debut single explores “issue of ‘death by overwork,’ and revolves around the “never-ending frustration of working to live”. In the past ten years, DOCSKIM has been focused on building his career, and ‘Breather’ is a departure from that – getting a glimpse of a “what-if scenario” where a normal person can go and chase after their dreams, even for a fleeting moment. DOCSKIM calls the song “the final step” to fulfiling his dream.
The accompanying music video is set as an aural documentary, accompanied by the track which features ” a deep, cinematic sound blending dusty hip-hop, hazy shoegaze, and lush orchestration.”
DOCSKIM is known for his work with the likes of global superstars BTS, hip-hop icons Epik High, Korean pioneer Seo Taiji, and host and pop star Eric Nam. The artist is set to release the reimagined take on There and Back Again with Eric Nam this March.
