j-hope is back.
On 3 March, the BTS member returned with a brand new single, ‘on the street’ made in collaboration with award-winning rapper J. Cole. The track follows the release of j-hope’s acclaimed album, Jack In The Box last July.

Co-produced by j-hope himself, ‘on the street’ pays an ode to the multihyphenate’s roots as an underground street dancer and serves as a “meaningful gift” that he dedicates to ARMY (BTS fans).
The track features J. Cole, an artist j-hope has frequently expressed his admiration for. In a tweet, Dreamville’s Ibrahim Hamad shared how the collaboration comes as a “full circle moment” from having first heard of BTS in 2013 covering J. Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’.
It was a pleasure working with Daniella and the @BIGHIT_MUSIC team to bring this through to the finish line. Long way from 2013 when i didn’t know @bts_bighit and was shocked to see a group in Korea covering the song Born Sinner. Full Circle moment. https://t.co/NyOTAIOJ5U

The release of ‘on the street’ follows the confirmation of j-hope’s enlistment process. He will be the next BTS member to fulfil their military service requirement following Jin, who enlisted last December.
In 2022, j-hope and J. Cole both performed at Lollapalooza 2022. The BTS member’s historic headlining set was also featured as part of his solo documentary, j-hope IN THE BOX.
